Washington State Man Wanted for Murder After Fire Victims Found with Gunshot Wounds
August 18, 2024
WASHINGTON: A Washington state man, Jason M. Birman, 49, is now wanted for murder after the three victims found dead in a fire in Concrete earlier this month were determined to have died from gunshot wounds. Birman was already wanted for questioning in connection with the deadly fire, which claimed the lives of his wife, Erin Birman, 52, their son, Taylor Dawson, 19, and his girlfriend, Jillian Whitney Van Boven, 18.
Mount Vernon Police identified Birman as a person of interest after realizing he was not among the victims found dead in the fire. When the Skagit County Coroner's Office determined that the three victims had been shot, police issued an arrest warrant for Birman on three counts of second-degree murder.
Birman's whereabouts are currently unknown, and his blue 1994 Chevrolet pickup truck, with Washington plate number C67636L, is unaccounted for. The two-story home in Concrete burned to the foundation and collapsed on August 9, with the fire department responding to the call just before 10:30 a.m. that morning.
The investigation is ongoing, and police are urging anyone with information about Birman's whereabouts to come forward.
