September 15, 2024
NORTH CAROLINA: Doug Maxwell, a 62-year-old former radio personality, was found bludgeoned to death in a van. The Davie County Sheriff's Office responded to an "unknown medical call" and discovered Maxwell's body, which showed signs of "blunt force trauma."
Isidro Rivera Aguero Jr., 29, who lived with Maxwell in the same home, was arrested and charged with murder. Aguero Jr. appeared in court on Thursday, where prosecutors revealed chilling details about the crime.
According to the prosecution, Aguero Jr.'s stepmother made the 911 call, suspecting her stepson might have killed someone. Aguero Sr. discovered blood in the basement and a cut carpet, leading him to believe something was amiss.
When deputies arrived, Aguero Jr. surrendered, and a search warrant was obtained. Maxwell's body was found wrapped in carpet and other items, including a mattress, in the van.
Aguero Jr., a US Navy veteran, has been ordered held on a $2 million bond and will return to court on September 26.
Maxwell worked as an on-air talent at Charlotte radio stations WBT AM and 107.9 FM from 2010 to 2017 and later became an account manager at a Charlotte furniture store.
