CALIFORNIA: A shocking incident occurred at Tacos Reyes in Canoga Park, California, on Friday evening, when a former employee repeatedly rammed her car into the taco restaurant, causing destruction and chaos.
The suspect, who has not been named, was caught on video backing into the establishment multiple times before police officers arrived and used non-lethal rounds to subdue her. She was arrested and hospitalized with minor injuries and later charged with felony vandalism.
According to Antonia Reyes, the restaurant's owner's daughter, the suspect was a former employee who had left the restaurant four years ago on good terms. Reyes expressed shock and sympathy for the suspect and her family, stating, "Her mom still works with us... We do have so much love for the family. This is an unfortunate situation that happened and our heart breaks for her."
The incident occurred around 7:30 p.m. on Friday, with bystanders witnessing the chaos and alerting police officers nearby. The suspect allegedly destroyed everything inside the restaurant before being taken into custody.
Bailey Thompson, an employee of the bar next door, recalled the moment she had to rush customers and co-workers out of the building, stating, "She just was reversing and slamming into all the different walls... So we share a wall with them, so she started slamming into our wall."
The restaurant will be closed for the foreseeable future, with the incident remaining under investigation by police. Despite the destruction caused, the Reyes family has shown compassion and understanding for the suspect and her family, highlighting the complexity of the situation.
