A Deadly Whisper: Minnesota Man Sentenced to 33 Years for Brutal Murder of Wife During Family Bible Study

September 14, 2024

MINNESOTA: A husband brutally murdered his wife during a family Bible study. Robert Castillo, 40, was sentenced to 33 years in prison for stabbing his wife, Corrina Woodhull, 41, multiple times with a hunting knife.

The tragic events unfolded on March 21, 2023, at Castillo's sister's home, where the family had gathered for their weekly Bible study. Witnesses described the horrific scene, detailing how Castillo whispered something in Woodhull's ear, prompting her to shake her head "no." Moments later, he pulled out the hunting knife and stabbed her repeatedly, inflicting 10-20 fatal wounds.

Woodhull's desperate pleas for mercy, "Don't let me die," fell on deaf ears as Castillo continued his vicious attack. Family members intervened, tackling and disarming Castillo until authorities arrived.

The couple's marital issues and Castillo's history of violence had set the stage for this tragic event. Divorce papers were later found in Woodhull's car, revealing her intention to leave the relationship. Castillo's sister confirmed the couple's troubles, stating that Woodhull had been seeking a way out.

Castillo's past is marred by multiple felony convictions, including an assault charge for allegedly beating the mother of his child with a hammer. An active warrant had been issued for his arrest at the time of the stabbing, stemming from charges related to assaulting a prison guard.

Woodhull, a devoted mother of five, was a beacon of hope for those struggling with substance abuse and domestic violence. Her work at Juel Fairbanks Recovery Services helped countless individuals find solace and support.

The community mourns the loss of this remarkable woman, whose legacy will live on through her children and the countless lives she touched. As the family and loved ones of Corrina Woodhull struggle to come to terms with their loss, her memory will continue to inspire and motivate others to break free from the shackles of domestic abuse.
