August 20, 2024
SCIOTO COUNTY, OHIO: A tragic incident in Scioto County, Ohio, has resulted in a life sentence for Brooklyn Frazie, 42, who was convicted of aggravated murder for fatally running over her boyfriend, Darrell "Scott" Donahoe, 44, with her SUV during a meth-fueled chase. On September 27, 2023, a domestic dispute between Frazie and Donahoe escalated into a high-speed vehicle pursuit, with Frazie driving her SUV and Donahoe on his motorcycle. Witnesses described the chase as reckless, with Frazie violating multiple traffic safety laws and disregarding the safety of other motorists.
The pursuit ended tragically when Frazie struck Donahoe's motorcycle from behind, causing him to crash and drag him under her vehicle for 58 feet. Despite eyewitnesses' attempts to save him, Donahoe succumbed to his injuries, including 14 rib fractures and liver lacerations, at the Southern Ohio Medical Center. Prosecutors revealed that Frazie had pursued Donahoe for approximately 14 miles before the collision. Investigators found methamphetamine in her system and Suboxone in her possession.
Frazie claimed she was trying to get Donahoe's attention about his kickstand, but prosecutors refuted this, citing evidence of her reckless behavior and controlling actions in their relationship. Frazie was convicted of aggravated murder, murder, felonious assault, inducing panic, attempting to leave the scene of an accident, operating a vehicle while under the influence, and aggravated vehicular homicide. She was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole for 34 years.
Donahoe's mother made an impact statement in court, describing how his death had devastated his friends and family and forever transformed their lives. The victim's mother and daughter described Donahoe as a "generous, loving, and peaceful individual." They also claimed that Frazie was "controlling and obsessive" during the relationship. Scioto County Prosecutor Shane Tieman commended the community's response in attempting to save Donahoe's life, saying, "While there are never any positives that come from a horrible situation like this, the lone bright spot of this incident was seeing the incredible response of the people of this community who immediately sprang into action to try and save Scott Donahoe's life."
