INDIANA: A devastating discovery was made in Indiana on Sunday morning when a 3-month-old boy was found dead inside a sealed bucket. The boy's father, 28-year-old Eliasard Moneus, is now considered a person of interest in his death, and authorities are working to unravel the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident.
According to authorities, Moneus was arrested on Saturday for beating his wife with a tire iron, leaving her with a fractured skull. The wife reported that Moneus had taken their son, Jacob, and a Silver Alert was issued. The alert described Jacob as being in danger and provided a picture and description of the young boy.
When police questioned Moneus, he initially claimed not to know his son's whereabouts but later stated that Jacob was okay. However, a search of the home revealed the tragic truth. Jacob was found dead inside an orange bucket with a snap-seal lid. The bucket was sealed, and authorities believe that Jacob may have suffocated inside.
The preliminary cause of death is asphyxia, with homicide as the manner of death. Moneus is currently being held at the Tippecanoe County Jail on domestic violence and attempted murder charges. He has yet to be charged in connection with Jacob's death, but authorities say that the investigation is ongoing.
