The incident occurred on January 1, when Joseph struck Jackie over the head with a hammer, leading to her tragic death.

In a twisted attempt to cover up the crime, Joseph told Jackie's children that she was terminally ill and had chosen to leave home. However, her medical provider refuted this claim, and an investigation was launched. Joseph's deception was further exposed when Jackie's body and car were found in separate locations in DeKalb County.
