Texas Man Sentenced to Life for Killing Girlfriend, Dumping Body in Field

NEVADA: A Texas man has been sentenced to life in prison without parole for the heinous murder of his girlfriend, Amalia Alexander, 32, in 2016. Jarvis Earl Hickerson, 40, killed Alexander after she filed domestic violence charges against him.
The gruesome events unfolded when Hickerson, unable to convince Alexander to drop the charges, murdered her in her Houston apartment and dumped her body in a Montgomery County field, 40 miles north of Houston.
Alexander's family waited eight long years for justice. "He left her there to rot and let the animals tear her apart," said Laura Alexander, Amalia's sister.
Harris County District Attorney Kim Ogg emphasized, "Eight years is too long for anyone to wait for justice... This case shows exactly why we take every allegation of domestic violence seriously, too often it escalates to homicide."
The investigation revealed Hickerson's manipulation and violence. After Alexander filed charges, he proposed to her to keep her from testifying. When that failed, he killed her.
Prosecutors used cellular phone records, surveillance video, and eyewitness accounts to build their case. Hickerson's truck was seen leaving Alexander's apartment complex with a large object in the bed.
While awaiting trial, Hickerson tampered with his GPS ankle monitor and assaulted another girlfriend.
Amalia Alexander's legacy lives on through her kindness and generosity, working with the elderly and spreading joy with her bright smile.
