Father Pleads Guilty to Stabbing Wife to Death

NEW YORK: A devastating incident of domestic violence has shaken a community on Long Island, New York, after Ryszard Murawski, 44, pleaded guilty to stabbing his wife, Wioleta Murawski, 38, to death in their backyard on January 3, 2024 ¹. The brutal attack was captured on the family's home surveillance system and has left their 15-year-old son traumatized.
The incident unfolded when the couple's son returned home from a friend's house and heard his mother screaming for help in the backyard. He witnessed his father stabbing his mother with a large, serrated knife and courageously intervened to try and save her. Despite his efforts, Wioleta succumbed to her injuries after stumbling across the street and collapsing.
Ryszard Murawski fled the scene in a black GMC pickup truck, leading police on a seven-mile chase before crashing into a building. He now faces 22 years to life in prison for his heinous crime.
District Attorney Raymond A. Tierney condemned the act, stating, "This is a tragic case of domestic violence that ended with the senseless death of Wioleta Murawski and horrific trauma to their child... Domestic violence is never the answer." Tierney urged victims of domestic abuse to seek help from law enforcement.
