FLORIDA: A shocking incident in Palm Coast, Florida, has led to the arrest of a 29-year-old man accused of peeping into a 14-year-old girl's bedroom window. Damon Smith, wearing a Michael Myers T-shirt from the Halloween movie franchise, faces charges of aggravated stalking, prowling, and voyeurism.
On Friday night, the victim's father had been waiting outside his home with a baseball bat, anticipating the return of a suspicious individual who had been spotted around the house the previous night. At around 10 p.m., a silhouette emerged in the yard, wearing white shoes. The father witnessed the suspect, later identified as Smith, put his face against his daughter's window with his hands cupped around his eyes.
Enraged, the father swung the baseball bat at Smith, who fled the scene. The father gave chase, shouting, "Call the cops! Call the cops! Somebody call the cops... Where you going, boy? Come here! Come here! I got something for you!" Home surveillance footage captured the dramatic confrontation.
After losing sight of Smith, neighbors identified him as a possible suspect who lives nearby and is known to walk around the neighborhood wearing white shoes. Deputies interviewed Smith, who admitted to walking around the neighborhood and showed them his muddy shoes and T-shirt.
Smith's T-shirt depicted Michael Myers with the quote, "Everyone is entitled to one good scare." He reportedly told cops that he gets a thrill and adrenaline from walking around people's homes. With several reports of window-peeping incidents in the area over the past few months, authorities are investigating potential connections.
The victim's father expressed relief at Smith's arrest, stating, "I don't know what his intentions are... if it was something that was going to escalate over time, and that Michael Myers was his role model or what, but we might have got him just in time."
