Two Young Women Sentenced for Helping Man Use Sword to Kill Teen in Romantic Squabble

FLORIDA: Two young women, Christie Parisien, 20, and Jaslyn Smith, 19, have been sentenced to 25 years in prison for their roles in the murder of Dwight "DJ" Grant, 18, who was killed over a romantic squabble. The lead defendant, Andre Clements, 20, is facing trial for first-degree murder, tampering with physical evidence, and conspiracy to commit murder.

According to authorities, Parisien lured Grant to a stairwell in their apartment complex, where Smith and Clements ambushed him, attacking him for 31 minutes. Clements allegedly stabbed Grant in the neck and chest with a sword, and the three teenagers dumped his body over a railing 30 feet from his apartment.

The motive for the murder was that Grant had sex with Clements' ex-girlfriend, leading Clements to recruit Parisien and Smith to help him. The young women pleaded guilty to second-degree murder, tampering with evidence, and conspiracy to commit murder.

Grant's mother, Madge Emile, expressed her grief in court, saying, "I'll never have a grandchild... I will never see him grow up, how old he would be." Clements' trial is set to begin on January 13.
