4-Month-Old Infant in Critical Condition with Skull Fractures; Family Friend Arrested

UTAH: A heart-wrenching incident has unfolded in Midvale, Utah, where a 4-month-old infant is in critical condition with life-threatening injuries. The infant was found with two skull fractures and a significant brain bleed, and is currently receiving medical treatment at a local hospital.
According to the Unified Police Department, officers responded to a call at the Midvale Road Home on Sunday, August 25, where they found the infant unresponsive. First responders initiated CPR and life-saving measures, and the infant was rushed to the hospital.
An investigation led by Special Victims Detectives revealed that Zachary Walton, a 29-year-old family friend, was responsible for watching the infant while her mother was at work. Walton allegedly confessed to causing the injuries, stating that he became frustrated with the infant's crying and intentionally caused trauma to her head.
Walton has been charged with two counts of second-degree felony intentional aggravated child abuse and one count of second-degree felony attempted murder. He is being held without bail pending a pretrial hearing.
