September 8, 2024

TEXAS: A search for a missing Texas woman, Delisha Evans, 30, ended in tragedy when she was found dead in an SUV in Missouri after a high-speed chase and rollover crash. Ryan Phillips, 33, a suspect in her disappearance, was killed by state troopers during the incident.

Evans was reported missing after a fire destroyed her home in Princeton, Texas, early Friday morning. Family members alerted investigators, who launched a search and listed her in state and national databases as "in imminent danger." Texas Rangers joined the investigation, identifying Phillips as a suspect.

License plate readers tracked Phillips' Range Rover to Missouri, where state troopers initiated a pursuit when he refused to stop. The chase ended in a rollover crash on Interstate 44 near Afton, almost 600 miles from Princeton. A trooper fired their weapon, and a gun was found next to the vehicle. While it's unclear if Phillips fired at troopers, Princeton Police confirmed "gunshots were exchanged."

The circumstances surrounding Evans' death are still unclear, with investigators yet to determine if she died prior to the crash, in the crash, or from gunshots after the crash.
